Summary from Goodreads:
Got boy problems? Call Laney Scott. She's good for advice, a shoulder, or a swift kick where you need it. When her roommate Bethany gets her heart broken, yet again, it's Laney to the rescue. But Laney's harboring a secret. She's nursing her own broken heart. She and her friends come up with a plan to break Aiden and set it into play. Laney wants Aiden to pay for what he's done to Bethany. She will make him fall in love with her, so can break his heart. Laney's ex-boyfriend Lachlan Hems is back in Florida, still Australian and sexy as hell. His best mate Lucas is getting married, and he is in town for the show. He just didn’t realize Laney would be there … in another guy’s arms, or that seeing her again would have such an effect on him. After the incident in high-school, he vowed to never care for her again. But sometimes fate has different plans. When Laney’s resolve crumbles, Lachlan is the only one that can put her back together again. Where You Are is the start of a three-books new adult series from Amazon and Barnes and Noble bestselling author Alla Kar.

My Review:
Laney is a know it all though she is right about how to get guys to fall for you. Guys do love the challenge. I always found it quite stupid and pointless myself. It's a game. You played hard to get so that the guy chases you and hopefully while he is doing the chasing he figures out if he wants more or quits the chase. Now, sexually it makes sense. You don't spread your legs for a jerk that will leave you in the morning. Then you have that double standard to contend with. You know, the one where a woman sleeps with a guy on the first date she's a whore but the guy is a stud. Umm...no he's a whore. Sorry guys but that is quite unattractive.

In this novel, Laney gets pressured into making a guy fall for her so that she can break his heart like he does so many girls. Men are going to hate me for saying this but they have fragile egos. They usually are jerks because some girl (usually the first love) broke their heart and now they just want ass. We as women are stronger. It usually takes a few heartbreaks before we become callous. Aiden is one such jerk who Laney is going to teach a lesson.

Lachlan is Laney ex-boyfriend from high school. He is back for a wedding. He and Laney has some unfinished business that we are not privy to until the end of the book. It's a big one. I definitively didn't see it coming. At the core you know this is a romance novel so you are going to get your happily ever after.

The characters were good. I did have a problem with Laney at times though. She let things lingered on too long. You can't postponed things once you see them unravel without risking it blowing up before you are ready to "man" up and handle business. This is a situation driven novel. Have you heard someone describe a novel like that before? If not, then hey I just made up a phrase :-P Anyway, I'm not comfortable calling it action driven because things do happen back to back to back. I'm not comfortable calling it character driven because I don't really have an in-depth knowledge of the characters. Instead, Laney is in a situation and we read as that situation plays itself out.

Should you read it? Yes. Who should read it? Fans of romance and happy endings.
