Lusting For Covers 13

Fox Forever (Jenna Fox Chronicles, #3)
#lustingforcovers

*It's different. Not that we haven't seen puzzle piece covers before but certainly there aren't many of them.

Locke Jenkins has some catching up to do. After spending 260 years as a disembodied mind in a little black box, he has a perfect new body. But before he can move on with his unexpected new life, he’ll have to return the Favor he accepted from the shadowy resistance group known as the Network.

Locke must infiltrate the home of a government official by gaining the trust of his daughter, seventeen-year-old Raine, and he soon finds himself pulled deep into the world of the resistance—and into Raine’s life.

Mary E. Pearson brings the story she began in The Adoration of Jenna Fox and continued in The Fox Inheritance to a breathtaking conclusion as Locke discovers that being truly human requires much more than flesh and blood.

Lusting For Covers 12

Asunder (Newsoul, #2)
#lustingforcovers

*Just like the first book in this series the cover is beautiful though it is also subtly freaky...I think it's the eyes.

DARKSOULS
Ana has always been the only one. Asunder. Apart. But after Templedark, when many residents of Heart were lost forever, some hold Ana responsible for the darksouls–and the newsouls who may be born in their place.

SHADOWS
Many are afraid of Ana’s presence, a constant reminder of unstoppable changes and the unknown. When sylph begin behaving differently toward her and people turn violent, Ana must learn to stand up not only for herself but for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

LOVE
Ana was told that nosouls can’t love. But newsouls? More than anything, she wants to live and love as an equal among the citizens of Heart, but even when Sam professes his deepest feelings, it seems impossible to overcome a lifetime of rejection.

In this second book in the Incarnate trilogy, Ana discovers the truth about reincarnation and will have to find a way to embrace love and make her young life meaningful. Once again, Jodi Meadows explores the extraordinary beauty and shadowed depths of the soul in a story equal parts epic romance and captivating fantasy.

*A crib in the middle of the woods. I'm liking the creepiness.

From Goodreads:
She had seen the unspeakable.
She would learn the unknowable.
Now, she would fight the invincible.

In the third and final installment of the Providence series, Nina Grey will marry the wrong man, carry the child that was never supposed to be born, and fight a war she can't win.

Faced with the impossible task of protecting his new wife and unborn child against the throes of Hell, Jared Ryel is allowed no mistakes. Pressured to return the Naissance de Demoniac to Jerusalem, he revisits St. Ann's to learn the answers were in front of him all along.

Together, they must survive long enough to let their child save them - and the world.

Project Fairytale

I am doing The Ugly Duckling. I will probably make a month of it and link different retellings. If you are participating in Project Fairytale and wasn't able to review the fairytale you really wanted leave a comment for a Guest Post.

From The Cheap Reader
Here’s the basic idea of Project: Fairy Tale:
•Have a month devoted to Fairy Tales. Maybe February or March 2013. That will give us adequate time to read and schedule our posts. Let her know if you have a preferenceby taking the poll in her sidebar.
•Each blogger chooses a fairy tale. They must read the original fairy tale and at least 3 retellings/spin offs of the story. They write a review of each book and post them during the month of Project: Fairy Tale.  It’d be awesome if you could compile a list of other retellings  of your fairy tale as well. (Preferably the retellings will be Young Adult books or younger.) That’s it!
•Other optional fun things to do: You can make a whole month of it on your blog if you’d like. More reviews,  read the fairy tale from another culture, movie reviews, integrate your fairy tale with any features/memes you do, discussion posts, list posts (favorite retelling, most creative retelling, etc), comparing and contrasting the retellings with the original story, anything you can imagine involving your fairy tale! Do as much or as little as you’d like.
•You don’t have to devote the entire month to the event. Just the reviews are required.
•It’s not required but after your fairy tale is ‘clear’  she would love for you to do a sign up post on your blog. Nothing too fancy.  Just tell your readers about this project, the fairy tale you chose, and maybe brainstorm your ideas. Plus it’s a great, central place for us to suggest or recommend books about your fairy tale.
•She’ll keep a master post for the month and add people’s posts to it as they’re posted
The idea is we all will learn a bit more about each fairy tale without having to read everything. We might even find some retellings we need to read! Of course making new blog friends is awesome too.

Does that sound like something you’d like to participate in? Please comment below with which fairy tale you’d like to take. One blogger per fairy tale. First come, first serve. There’s no limit to how many bloggers can participate. She’ll add your name and fairy tale choice to the list. (Comments are moderated.) Sign up ends November 30, 2012.

Lusting For Covers 10

Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)
#lustingforcovers

*I like this cover because it reminds me over catching fireflies in jars when I was growing up.

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

 Book Blogging at it's finest!

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

A: I usually finish every book I read even if I don't like it. However, I don't like books with badly formed characters and not imaginery. I have to feel like I'm in the book. If I feel like I'm reading instead of in the book or watching a movie then I'm probably going to hate it.

Love Overboard by Janet Evanovich

Love Overboard
Published by Thorndike Press (first published January 1st 1989) more details...
ISBN: 0786276681 (ISBN13: 9780786276684)
Original Title: Ivan Takes a Wife (1989)
Rating: 2stars

Synposis:
Sinfully handsome schooner captain Ivan Rasmussen deserved to be called Ivan the Terrible, Stephanie Lowe decided. First he’d sold her a haunted house, and now he was laughing at her Calamity Jane cooking! She’d only agreed to work one voyage of his Maine coastal cruise in exchange for the house repairs promised by her cousin, who’d run off to marry a plumber. When the brazen Ivan, descendant of a pirate, swept her into his arms during a moonlight rendezvous, Stephanie knew how it felt to be a pirate’s treasure! Ivan teased her, flirted with her, and made her feel cherished as no one ever had, but when would her sexy scoundrel deliver the ravishing he promised? Ivan had expected a shipboard romance, a fling on the ocean that ended at the dock, but every time he kissed Stephanie, he thought of marriage, hearth, and home. Could he seduce his ladylove with the sweet mysteries of passion and put her private ghosts to rest?

My Review:

Love Overboard is a fluffy love story. The romance between Ivan and Stephanie is sweet. Ivan is not as terrible as she once thinks. In fact, he just a dangerous type of sexy. For Ivan, Stephanie is just what he didn’t know he was looking for. Of course, this story ends with the happy ending but in the course of getting to that ending a lot of crazy events happen. It didn’t hold my attention the whole way through but it is a quick read. Oh and no dog in this one. If you are a Janet Evanovich reader you know why I mention this.
