bout of books read-a-thon
Whether this is your first time participating or you are a Bout of Books veteran, we are happy to have you with us.
While we've attempted to make this site as user friendly as possible, it can still be intimidating to try and figure out what steps you need to take. This page was created as a simple guide to the sign up process and what you can do to help spread the word about Bout of Books.
1. Fill out the form on the sign up post. If the sign up post is not easily visible, use the "sign up here" button in the side bar. The sign up form will ask you for:
Name/Blogger ID: your name + your blog name (e.g., Amanda @ On a Book Bender)
Where you will be updating: choose only the places you will keep track of your progress.
Provide links to the places where you're tracking your progress
If you've chosen both Goodreads and Twitter, consider connecting your Goodreads account with Twitter, and only posting your link to Twitter
For Twitter, write http://twitter.com/YOURHANDLE, not @YourHandle
2. Grab the Bout of Books button, and spread the word!
3. Post your Bout of Books goals. We provide a sample goal template on our Goals Post Template page to help give you a feel for what others have done in the past. The template can be used as is or altered to fit your specific goals. All we ask is that you attribute us (a simple "template provided by Bout of Books" with a link back to the site will suffice). A week prior to the start of the read-a-thon, you'll be able to link your goals up so that other participants can see what your plan of attack is. Once the linky is active and those posts start appearing, let the blog hopping begin.
