My Review:
We have come to another Freaky Friday. Today we are going to take a look at Bound by Lies by Hanna Peach. I was expecting a story that was filled with sex. There was a lot of thinking about sex. Don't get me wrong the couple did have sex but it wasn't all that interesting. I also found the characters to be boring. I just could not get into this book. In fact the best part of the book was the end for two reasons. For one, we find out that Cade isn't who he said he was and two it was the end. Note that this book ends in a cliff hanger.

The twist at the end was good. It seems that book 2 has the potential to be a much better story. The sex scenes need to be improve on the showing rather than the telling. This is one of those novels that you really just have to read it for yourself as there have been some people who have given it 4 and 5 stars. I must say I don't understand why the ratings are so high but maybe I just didn't get this novel. If you decide to read this leave me a comment and like me know what you thought of it. My Review:
Started off interesting. It was a hint that the story was going to be psycho twisted. After the opener
the story settles into drama filled romance triangles. No that is not a typo, it is triangles.

Shia and Leigh are twins. They may look like each other but there personalities are differently different.
Their night at a club sets up a chain of events that will change everyone lives forever. Well, that's not fair. It
is actually the girls' mother who set things in motion but I won't get into that as it would ruin the surprise.

The characters are all emotionally unstable. I can't really get into why they are emotionally unstable as it
would probably ruin some of the drama of the book. What I can say is that after reading this book if you
know someone who has a problem letting go give them this. Hope that they see themselves in it. Get them help. Speak on it. Because even though there are some overly dramatized moments in this book there are just as many real moments. Many people have been beaten down over someone else's mate. Hey, it ain't right but it happens.

For those who think the story is too far fetched. Sorry to tell you but other than the kidnapping and murder I knew women who could not let go and would fight rather than let the man she think is hers go. And I know several men who have date the mother, the daughters, and the cousins. Unfortunately, I know of a mother who made it obvious she wanted some of the loving her daughter boyfriend was throwing down. As well as, sisters who have the same "baby daddy". There's no limit to how crazy drama can get.

The lesson to take away is that when someone makes it know that they don't want you then you let them go.

My Review:
I have avoided this book (and movie) for awhile. However, every time I went to search for a book to read it would show up. Finally, I decided to go ahead and give it a listen. It turned out to be a good read. I don't care for stories that I know will upset me. I story about Black maids in the South I knew would get under my skin. I was right but It sucked me in.

Each character had their own story. My favorite character was definitely Milli. I saw alot of me in her. LOL, I am someone who tells it like it is even when I probably should just keep my mouth shut. The book is written from the point of view of Skeeter, Ableen, and Milli. It could have gotten confusing but thankful it was not. It successfully plays on your emotions while reading it.

One thing that caught my attention that wasn't addressed (though the maids still got credit for the book) is that the book idea was not original to Skeeter. Ableen states that her son wanted to write a similar book but a few pages later it was made to seem as if Skeeter got hit with this idea in the middle of the night. Also I think that the setting of the neighborhoods could have be described in a little more detail. Those were the two problems I had with this book with this book.

I can related to this book. If you read my profile (to the right )you will see that I am a Southerner though I have lived longer in the North as I have in the South. I grew up in a pretty infamous Southern city known for its part in the civil rights movement. My previous comment of describing the town in more detail would have added to show just how different the two races lived. I know where I grew up not going did the neighborhood have a different feel, the houses looked different.

The Help is a good read. I am glad that I read it. There were parts that were upsetting as well as parts that were funny. I would recommend this book to anyone.
