My Review
Drama, drama, and more drama. This has the typical urban/street lit style of writing. All the female characters are conceited and let the reader know that they are beautiful and that they know they are beautiful and that other characters in the books know they are beautiful. Also it has the normal each character looks like a famous celebrity thing going on. This is the cliche that most (and by most I'm thinking 99.9%) use. So you have to look pass those things if you are going to read anything from the urban/street lit genre.
So basically there are four women whose lives are intertwined. Maya is an ex-stripper and you would think that she would be the most ratchet one but I actually found her to be the most likable. Tisai was all kinds of ratchet. Ain't saying she's a gold digga but she ain't messing with no broke...y'all get the point. Priscilla wasn't exactly ratchet as she just got caught in her daddy's mess. And then there's, Michaela. Uppity as the the rest of the chicks but more so because of the shit she has gotten herself into. All I'm going to say is that she sitting up in front of everyone face like Whitney Houston meanwhile she's Uncle Al's road dawg.
All things seems to come to a head at a party that everyone is attending but of course that is where the story ends. I'm not sure but I'm think that the chick from BET may have already added camera's to the venue and everything got recorded. A few typos but entertaining. A good read for fans of this genre.

My Review
This is a mix review. I wasn't feeling this book for most of the beginning. The characters were all whiny. Sure Ethan had a valid reason but the others...not so much. I found Laura and Ethan to be total pushovers. They complained about how their siblings treated them but knew it was because they were pushovers. If you cant stand up for yourself, you either need to learn how to or stop complaining about it. Also there were some things that she had them say that not only teens wouldn't say but no one would say in regular everyday conversation, like laptop computer. I mean at this point in time if you just say laptop everyone pretty much assume you are talking about a computer.
The relationship between Ethan and Laura was the best part of the book. I may not have continued reading had it not been for their relationship. What happen to Laura sister as kept me interesting since I also wanted to know how it would affect their relationship.
How to be cool? Neither main character tried to be cool. It was a secondary character that brought it up & it wasn't even enough to be considered a subplot. There some things that were left unanswered and/or unexplored. Those things could've added extra depth to the story.
This book left me feeling *sigh* *shrug shoulders* *walks away*

Blog Tour: Signs of Life by Selena Castrovilla

SIGNS OF LIFE (Rough Romance #2) by Selene Castrovilla
Publisher: Last Syllable Books Expected Publication: June 21, 2016
The tables are turned with a vengeance in this tour de force love story. Nearly a year has gone by and now it’s Dorothy who is fragmented and lost, while Joey keeps the promise he had made her to better himself—even though she’s gone. Joey talks about what is happening in the present while Dorothy describes what happened before— in the moments and hours after the Glock dropped. This time the stakes are even higher, as Joey forces himself to move forward while Dorothy is frozen in place. But when he learns of a devastating decision, Joey races to find her before it is too late. Truth, consequence, repercussion and modern medicine collide as pieces converge in this psychological, thrilling story, which begs the question: Can love really conquer all?
MELT (Rough Romance #1) | Publication: November 6, 2014
Based on true events, MELT is both a chilling tale of abuse, and a timeless romance. MELT will hit you like a punch in the face, and also seep through the cracks in your soul.
MELT is a brutal love story set against the metaphorical backdrop of The Wizard of Oz (not a retelling). When sixteen year old Dorothy moves to the small town of Highland Park, she meets, and falls for Joey – a “bad boy” who tells no one about the catastrophic domestic violence he witnesses at home. Can these two lovers survive peer pressure, Joey’s reputation, and his alcoholism?
Told in dual first person, Joey’s words are scattered on the page – reflecting his broken state. Dorothy is the voice of reason – until something so shattering happens that she, too, may lose her grip. Can their love endure, or will it melt away? MELT: Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes and Noble
My Review
This is the second book in the series and I would say it is not a standalone. You should read the books in order. It is obvious from the beginning that there were things that had happen before that I wasn't privy to as I haven't read book 1. The then an now chapters attmpt to catch you up on what had happen but it is also like watching a ping ping match, there are times when you can't keep up with the ball.
One thing is clear, Joey & Doll share a deep love. Of course his dad is unlikable and quite horrible. But it's that Amy chick that rubbed me the wrong way. I mean really, when a man tell you how it is, take it at face value. Hoping for anything more is your fault and waste. She gets not sympathy from me.
So here's the thing, the pace is slow. The kind of slow where you consider adding it to your dnf pile. However, if you can make it halfway through twists start to get thrown in and the pace picks up. By the end, the pace is so fast that the cliffhanger leaves you with a seatbelt bruise from the sudden stop.

Book Blitz: TAXI by Cambria Hebert
TAXI
Cambria Hebert
(a Take It Off novel)
Publication date: May 6th 2016
Genres: New Adult Romantic suspense
The meter is running…
One night as Rose Crawford steps out of a bar, she gives no second thought to lifting her hand to signal for a cab. After all, it’s the responsible thing to do.
A common occurrence.
Far safer than walking several blocks, alone, in the dark.
A familiar-looking yellow taxi with black, faux-leather seats, running meter on the dash, and a smiling driver pulls up to the curb.
Rose slides in. Gives the driver her address…
But she never reaches her destination.
Instead, she finds herself captive, at the will of a man who isn’t a driver, but a bona fide psychopath.
Trapped in a taxi she can’t escape, Rose begins to panic. As the miles between her and safety grow, hope dwindles. It isn’t until someone else joins her in captivity that her spark of hope is rekindled.
Derek is strong, capable, and surely together they can fight their way to freedom.
Then Rose finds out exactly why she’s been driven into hell. Derek may be an unwilling captive, but he isn’t going to help her.
In fact, he’s there to do the exact opposite.

**THIS IS A STANDALONE NOVEL**
Author Bio:
Cambria Hebert is an award winning, bestselling novelist of more than twenty books. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.
Besides writing, Cambria loves a caramel latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching movies. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chorkie (the real boss of the house).
Cambria has written within the young adult and new adult genres, penning many paranormal and contemporary titles. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense. A few of her most recognized titles are: The Hashtag Series, Text, Torch, and Tattoo.
Cambria Hebert owns and operates Cambria Hebert Books, LLC.
